Ellie Holt Biography
Ellie Holt is a native of West Lafayette, Indiana, where she attended West Lafayette High School and graduated from Purdue University. Ellie is married to Robert, and has two children, Gregory and Randolph. She resides in Muncie, Indiana, where she first became involved in politics in 1963 as a vice-precinct committeeman. She has served as President of the Delaware County Women’s Club twice (1964-68, 1990-1992), Vice-Chair of the Delaware County Republican Party (1974-1978), and volunteered on a number of campaigns. Last year, she received the J. Roberts Dailey Award from the Delaware County Republican Party.
At the state level, Ellie has served as First Vice President of the Indiana Federation of Women (IFRW) (1969-73), 10th District Director (1973-77), chaired the IFRW state convention (1975), and has been a delegate to several IFRW conventions (1963-1995). In 1981, she was elected Vice Chair of the Indiana Republican State Committee and President of the IFRW. She held these positions through 1989.
At the national level, Ellie, has served on the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) Board as Secretary, is a graduate of the NFRW Polling School, and was an NFRW Regent (1981-89). She has served on the NFRW membership and fundraising committees (1974-81) and has been a delegate at several Republican National Conventions (1980-88).
In addition to politics, Ellie has been very involved in her local community. She has been named a top volunteer by Ball Memorial Hospital, awarded Indiana Republican Mayor’s Association “Woman of the Year” (1974) and received the Sagamore of the Wabash by two Governors, Bowen (1979) and Orr (1985).
