John Feick

Delaware County Circuit Court 4 Judge

John M. Feick isn’t your typical candidate.  His commitment to Delaware County and Muncie is not acquired; it is derived from a desire his parents instilled in him.  The oldest of 8 children, he was born at Ball Memorial Hospital on September 15, 1951 to Louis and Martha Mitchell Feick.  He attended St. Mary’s Elementary School, McKinley Junior High School, and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1969.

His leadership abilities began at a young age; Feick was elected student body president during his senior year.  In high school, he worked at the Village Pantry and helped his father build homes in Creekwood Terrace, Brookfield Terrace, and Burlington Woods in Muncie, Indiana.  Feick graduated from Wabash College in 1973 with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Economics and English.

After college graduation, he helped in his father’s homebuilding business. In 1973, his father acquired the Knapp Supply Company, Inc., which is currently operated by his brother Jim Feick as majority shareholder.

John attended Indiana University School of Law from 1974-1977.  During law school, Feick clerked for Dean James P. White and was a tort claims investigator for the Indiana Attorney General’s Office.  After Law School graduation, Feick put his education to work as an associate with the law firm McHie, Enslen, and Moran in Hammond, Indiana until June of 1979.

Returning to Muncie, he became associated with the law firm of Dennis, Cross, Raisor, and Marshall.  In 1982, he became a partner in the law firm renamed Cross, Marshall, Schuck, Deweese, Cross, and Feick until he assumed the bench in 2002 as Judge of Delaware Circuit Court 4.

Judge John M. Feick announced Jan. 8, 2014 that he will seek re-election to Delaware Circuit Court 4. Feick was first elected to the bench in 2002. Since his election more than 42,000 cases have been filed in Circuit Court 4, ranking it as the highest volume court in the Delaware County Court system. He also founded the first Forensic Diversion Drug Court and first Veterans Court in Delaware County. Neither program is funded by local tax dollars. He has been married to his wife Debbie since 1974 and has two children, Jennifer and Jessica.

Throughout his career he has served on various boards including Hillcroft Services, Muncie Community School Board, Sunrise Rotary, President of the Muncie Bar Association, District Six representative to the Indiana State School Board Association, Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Muncie Central Alumni Board of Directors, a member of the local chapter of the Blue Knights – Indiana 1, and a member of the Delaware County Community Correction Board. He has also been an active volunteer to many causes throughout the city, county and state.
